DCTV Weekly News Roundup

Earlier this week the Legends of Tomorrow writer’s room took to twitter confirming that the show will return to the CW on Tuesday October 10th at 9pm directly after The Flash.

Supergirl will be the first of the shows to return on the evening of October 9th which will be a Monday, the following day we will be treated to The Flash and Legends of Tomorrow and with an unusual day gap between shows. Arrow season 6 premieres on Thursday 11th. It is unknown at time of writing when the premiere episode of new show Black Lightning will air but it is believed to be early 2018.

Supergirl’s New Villain

The newly crowned best superhero TV series at the Saturn awards Supergirl has cast Odette Annable (Cloverfield) who has most recently been seen starring in “Pure Genius” has signed on as Kara’s next villain, Reign.

For anyone unfamiliar with the comics Reign was a biological weapon created by Zor-El (Supergirl’s Father, Superman’s Uncle) on Krypton before being outlawed by the Kryptonian Science Council. “Who would have thought that creating a group of blood thirsty, super powerful monsters known as the worldkillers was a bad idea?”

Wanting to pursue other opportunities, Floriana Lima’s Detective Maggie Sawyer will return in Season 3 in a smaller capacity, stepping away from her series regular status she received in season 2.

What does this mean for that big proposal in the season 2 finale?

I guess we will have to wait and see.

Kid Flash = The Flash? (Spoilers)

At the end of the third season was saw Barry Allen sacrifice himself by filling the void in the speed force left by Savitar.

With Barry gone, will we now see the rise of Keiynan Lonsdale’s Kid Flash taking on the mantle of The Flash? The actor has in fact been questioned on this subject and here is what he had to say.

“It’s not something that’s on my radar. I feel as though there is so much story to tell and Wally has so much growing to do. I’d like to see that journey continue. That’s what I think is important. We need to see how these character(s) realistically get to where they are headed for.”

To me that sounds like a denial… although it could also be a big ol’ swerve.

How I would like to see the season go is…

Wally IS still Kid Flash but the main villain of the season should be Wally’s villain to defeat, giving him a deserved arc to really build up the character.

Alongside this will be the main arc of the season that is Wally and the team trying to get Barry out of the speed force. Yes, Grant Gustin is the face of the show and this little idea of mine wouldn’t take him out of the show for a whole season.

We have seen what is inside the speed force in previous episodes, so this season why not split the focus between Wally trying to live up to Barry’s legacy with Barry revealing more to us about the speed force as he navigates through his self-imposed prison sentence. I mean, that’s pretty much what happened in the comics.

God forbid we get ten minutes into the first episode and Barry returns leaving everyone all happy and smiley, thus rendering the emotional climax and basically the entire last season completely pointless.
